Every child is different from the other. They all have different temperament but sometimes a child can be experiencing difficulty socializing with other people and that is a big problem for parents. Some children are naturally shy and they can overcome their shyness with the little support of their parents and from society but some of them don’t do well with that in the future. A child starts social development at a very early age. But if your child usually plays alone and seems happy then there is something wrong.
Sometimes, the infants share their toys or involve their parents during playing but mostly keep it to themselves. Then comes the age when they are able to play with another child. At this point, you realize if your child is having a good paly relation with the other baby or they are going home crying. There are certain social cues that cannot be ignored if you want your child to be better at socializing. Here we have some of the common social cues if your child has a problem socializing. Have a look:
1. Nonverbal learning disabilities (NVLD)
This is a learning issue which you can only notice when your child is in school and social interaction is a must thing. The symptoms of this problem show that your child is not behaving properly, he doesn’t show the proper reaction, probably he doesn’t hear it the right way, talks too much, unable to understand sarcasm, prefers to talk to an elder rather than a kid and so on. It doesn’t mean that they have a disability of understanding, but they can’t be sure to understand the social cues like when somebody is angry and doesn’t want to talk.
2. Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
The symptoms of this mainly don’t let the child focus and control their impulses. What happens in that they want things immediately, don’t give others a chance to talk or act, they seek attention and gets angry and hyperactive.
3. Social communication disorder (SCD)
The kids with this disorder don’t like talking to other people, and if they had to they keep it really short and to the point. Plus, these kids can’t understand body language and nonverbal communication.
Tips to help a child to learn to socialize
Here are a few tips that can be used to help a child for socializing.
1- When your kids are talking to you or someone else, encourage them to maintain eye contact. This can build confidence in them and it is key to effective communication.
2- Let your kid feel emotions and you can teach them while playing games with them.
3- Talk to them and make sure they communicate with you too.
4- Give them the environment where they can speak and interact with other people.
